Client
The Detroit Public Schools Foundation (DPSF) raises money to support Detroit Public Schools Community District students, as well as award grants to teachers, schools, and non-profit organizations operating in the schools for programs and materials designed to enhance the students’ educational experiences. They also provide college scholarships for students.
Objective
DPSF wanted to focus this year’s annual report on the highlights of their four main priorities—literacy and early childhood education, STEAM programs, career pathways, and beyond the classroom. They wanted a clean layout for this report with bright colors for the priorities section. They also wanted to incorporate simple infographics for the statistics/numbers section of the priorities.
Role
This is the second consecutive annual report that I worked on for DPSF, and I designed and laid out the entire report as an 8.5" x 11" saddle-stitched booklet, using provided copy and photos while incorporating icons to accompany the priorities infographics, and even illustrating the financial graphs at the end. I achieved a clean layout with scaled back, consistent color and typography to strengthen the DPSF brand colors, while allowing the additional color blocks to make the priorities highlights section stand out. We also printed this report, so I was available to sign off for press checks and ensure color and print quality during production.
Results
We delivered the full quantity of annual reports in time for our contacts at DPSF to present at their board meeting. Our client was pleased with the quality and satisfied with our services once again.
